Anterior Approach Hip Replacement

Performed on a special Hana table made of carbon fiber, we use an X-ray during anterior approach hip replacement procedures to assist in successfully placing the replacement components. The advantages of our approach include:

1. Less cutting of the muscles
2. Faster recovery
3. Less pain after the procedure
4. Lower risk of hip dislocation
5. May be performed as an outpatient procedure

Posterior Approach Hip Replacement

For this minimally-invasive approach, we use muscle-sparing techniques through a small incision, repairing and reattaching the muscles at the end of surgery. The advantages of our approach include:

1. Faster recovery
2. Less pain after the procedure
3. May be performed as an outpatient procedure

Birmingham Hip Resurfacing

Some patients may qualify for a Birmingham hip resurfacing procedure, which removes a few centimeters of bone, shaping it to fit tightly inside the Birmingham hip resurfacing implant. The advantages of our approach include:

1. Less bone removal
2. Lower risk of hip dislocation
3. Lower risk of revision
4. May be performed as an outpatient procedure

Hip Arthroscopy

We insert a small camera into the hip through small incisions, which helps us diagnose and repair problems inside the hip joint. This minimally-invasive approach can lead to a faster recovery with fewer complications. Often called hip scope, hip arthroscopy is a minor procedure when compared to other replacement surgeries — requiring minimal recovery time and being less invasive.
